THVC 311 - Voice and Speech for Actors V

Involves the study of the key dialects of North America, the British Isles, and Europe, as well as work in the area of voice characterization, using the International Phonetic Alphabet as a guide. The dialects chosen are those for which there is most demand in dramatic literature and in the commercial theater; consequently, some time is spent on “Standard British,” “Southern Irish,” and a range of “American Southern,” and “New York” accents. Approximately six to eight dialects are addressed in depth. Formerly TH 309
