Description
The CPA Core creates a pathway of shared study for students during their four years in the College of Performing Arts (CPA). The Core seeks to strengthen and identify commonalities across our various disciplines (Dance, Music, and Theater); introduce the notion and practice of community engagement; ask questions about a shared future; and provide unique and varied ways to both prepare for, and imagine, that future. The 3-credit elective component, which can be taken at any time, will allow students to identify and strengthen commonalities across the disciplines.
Program Objectives
Students will:
- identify and strengthen commonalities across the disciplines of Dance, Music, and Theater
- demonstrate competency with regard to the function and application of media and production technologies
- access, understand, and construct support systems and networks that further artistic visions and help to build sustainability
- research, reflect, and practice the role of performing arts engaging with, and alongside, communities
