LAPI 825 - Age of Melancholy Renaissance models of the self and their assimilation into artistic work. An exploration of how social forces drove individuals toward subjectivity and looks at how the then current medical models coped with this new concern through sixteenth and seventeenth century lyric and dramatic poetry. Parallels are also traced among literature, print culture and music.
