LAPI 831 - Chartres Cathedral: Politics, Society, and the Arts 12th - 13th Century France A consideration of the architecture, sculpture, stained glass, illuminated manuscripts, costume and liturgical vessels, and music that contributed to Chartres Cathedral, the major gothic monument of the twelfth - thirteenth century France. At the end of the course, we consider the work presently being done to configure a sacred space in New York to honor the 9/11 site.
