STME 636 Building the Whole Musician Through Modern Band Pedagogy

Modern Band has become the hot topic among music educators looking to develop a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible program. This course will provide educators with the skills needed to teach standard modern band instruments (guitar, bass, drums, keys, ukulele, vocals/songwriting) as well the skills needed for basic modern band set up (live sound and recording). Additionally, specific consideration will be made for creating relevant teaching opportunities within the context of each teacher’s existing responsibilities, as well as how to adapt for growing music curricular opportunities.
