THMD 171 Stage Combat I: Unarmed Combat

Stage Combat is the safe, repeatable physicalization of dramatic conflict and its resolution, both physically and emotionally. This introductory course teaches the integration of aggressive acting intent and safe stage combat techniques using the unarmed body. This class prepares the student for the SAFD Certification Test, adjudicated on the last day of class by a Fight Master from the Society of American Fight Directors. (Testing with the SAFD is optional. Additional fees apply.)

Open to majors in the School of Theater only.
