DANC 661 History, Theory & Criticism I

600 level graduate course

Part one of a two-part course examining 20th and 21st century dance history, emphasizing the relations between dance, critical theory, critical writing and culture. Students will engage in theoretical inquiry and study in the dance-related areas of history and dance criticism in a variety of contexts, from the popular to the scholarly. Weekly lectures provide overviews while critics, dance historians, and artists are invited to give lectures, seminars, and/or workshops on their research interests and scholarship.

Open only to MFA in Dance majors.
This course is not repeatable for credit.
