An integral component of music education studies, as outlined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for pre-service teachers, is to engage in fieldwork studies with certified teaching professionals. Music Education Fieldwork 1 and 2 are mandatory fieldwork experiences for music education students. Thirty hours of observation in either instrumental or vocal music classrooms and/or ensembles is required. An observation journal reflective of teaching and learning strategies observed, interviews with faculty, and conclusions drawn upon the fieldwork experience are essential components of the course.

Only open to MAT & MM Music Education majors and Music Education minors.
This course is not repeatable for credit.
This course may not be audited.
This course cannot be taken pass/fail.
