UACC 238 Collaborative Studio: Before Utterance: Poetics of Dance

This course seeks to discover commonalities between presemiotic compositional methods of contemporary dance and poetry. What do these forms share in relationship to time, space, and matter? By experimenting with shared tendencies such as; speed/acceleration, imagery, metaphor, the body, sensation, or the flip flopping of tenses, recognizable tools of crafting become visible by intentionally using tricks of time and perspective to create meaning and poetics in movement and dance.

Collaborative Studio engages students in cross-disciplinary and collaborative processes, building links and connections across the disciplines through diverse cultural experiences, critical writing and discussion.

Requires completion of 24 credits
